New Tecumseth is growing quickly. What does "smart growth" mean to you in practice - more density, more sprawl, or something else?
Stephanie MacLellan's answer
Smart growth to me is not growing just for the sake of more houses, more taxation, and more sprawl.
To me it means building livable communities. It means building a community that works for existing residents while also allowing new ones to assimilate easily.
Growth is inevitable but that doesnt mean every piece of land is suited for growth. Not every open field should be turned into a subdivision.
One of my biggest reasons for voting against strong mayor powers is that they bypass the communication with the residents that is key to ensuring that growth benefits them. As mayor I will not use them to push growth where it shouldnt be.
If elected I will be a tireless advocate for our town and our residents because they deserve nothing less.
