Bio

Stephanie MacLellan is a lifelong resident of New Tecumseth. From Beeton she was elected in 2018 as councillor and again in 2022 as Deputy Mayor. A mother of 4 daughters she believes in building a community that they can thrive in. When she isnt at the council table or out at one the many amazing events in town, you'll find her at the baseball diamond. A constant community advocate and tireless volunteer, she hopes this October the voters of New Tecumseth will come together and bring needed change.

Platform

Communication is the Key to Good Effective Government. As Mayor I will keep that promise at the Town and at the County. That means respect for your tax dollars, growth that benefits the people already here, safer streets, and answers when you call. You work hard. So should your Mayor.

New Tecumseth is growing quickly. What does "smart growth" mean to you in practice - more density, more sprawl, or something else?

Smart growth to me is not growing just for the sake of more houses, more taxation, and more sprawl. To me it means building livable communities. It means building a community that works for existing residents while also allowing new ones to assimilate easily. Growth is inevitable but that doesnt mean every piece of land is suited for growth. Not every open field should be turned into a subdivision. One of my biggest reasons for voting against strong mayor powers is that they bypass the communication with the residents that is key to ensuring that growth benefits them. As mayor I will not use them to push growth where it shouldnt be. If elected I will be a tireless advocate for our town and our residents because they deserve nothing less.
